Driver Scholarship

US Driving for the Disabled is pleased to offer the Sybil Dukehart Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Sybil’s vision was to provide the extraordinary benefit  of driving to as many people as possible, through sharing knowledge, innovation, and experience.  Her goal was to provide help and inspiration to programs offering carriage driving for people with disabilities through the United States and Canada. 

Criteria for Submission:

1. The driver has a disability.

2. The driver demonstrates a strong commitment to driving horses, exemplified by Sybil’s life. 

3. The driver can identify appropriate local support (people, places, services) that are needed for

     success.

Applications can be submitted by:

1. Individual drivers

2. Family or friends on behalf of driver

Required Elements for Nomination:

1. Cover letter with personal statement indicating how the individual has met each of the above

    application criteria

2. Documentation of disability from doctor or para equestrian classifier

3. Two letters of support

4. Letter of intent for scholarship funds

Deadline for Receipt of Application:  April 30 and October 31. 

Amount of Award: $100-$500 depending on available funds

Applicant will be notified within two months of application deadline.
